IT Systems Engineer
The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for the administration, security, and reliability of NSI’s Windows Server and on‑premises infrastructure supporting the Electrical division. This role owns core Microsoft technologies, including Active Directory, Hyper‑V virtualization, identity management, endpoint security, and backup and disaster recovery systems.
The position primarily focuses on maintaining a stable, secure, and well‑documented enterprise infrastructure, with limited support of cloud-hosted services. Additionally, the IT Systems Engineer serves as the primary on‑site IT resource for NSI’s Odessa manufacturing facility, supporting both business and operational technology environments, with regular weekly onsite presence required. This is a critical, highly technical role requiring strong systems engineering expertise, disciplined change management, and a security‑first mindset. This role is remote with onsite presence at our Polaris Electrical facility in Odessa, Florida.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Windows Server environments across multiple NSI locations, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and identity services
- Manage and support Hyper‑V virtualization platforms, including virtual machine lifecycle, performance tuning, and resource allocation (VMware support as needed)
- Oversee server patching, upgrades, lifecycle management, system monitoring, and infrastructure health
- Administer Microsoft 365, including Intune device management, identity security controls, and email/security platforms
- Lead backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning and execution, ensuring defined RPO/RTO objectives are met
- Provide Tier 2 escalation support for infrastructure issues and mentor Tier 1 service desk personnel
- Serve as the primary IT systems contact for the Odessa facility, providing direct user support and maintaining OT system stability and security
- Maintain accurate system documentation, infrastructure diagrams, asset inventories, and licensing records
- Partner with Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and internal teams to support infrastructure initiatives and continuous improvement
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience administering Windows Server environments
- Strong expertise with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and identity/access management
- Direct experience managing Hyper‑V virtualization environments
- Experience with enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 tenant administration and endpoint management
- Strong understanding of infrastructure security best practices and server hardening
- Experience supporting multi-site environments
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex systems issues independently
- Strong documentation, organization, and change management discipline
- Experience supporting manufacturing or operational technology (OT) environments
- Familiarity with asset management, licensing compliance, and infrastructure lifecycle planning
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
