Position Title: Machine Shop Helper
Department: Machine Shop
Business Unit: Remke
Job Summary:
This position has responsibility for helping to facilitate the operation of the screw machines and secondary machines at our Remke location machine shop and keeping the shop in a clean and organized manner.
Position Responsibilities:
- Move materials to/from the machines.
- Move bar stock to and from the machines on bar stock carts.
- Helping machine operators with stock ups.
- Move parts from screw machines to secondary machines when necessary.
- Moving completed parts from screw machines or secondary machines to the parts washer.
- Move chip bins from machines and keep the chip handling system from becoming overloaded.
- Maintain warehouse in a clean and organized manner.
- As time permits, learn to operate secondary machines and be able to fill in for absent teammates.
- As time permits, learn how to receive PO’s and put material away in its proper location.
- Know, understand, and comply with Remke Quality Policy and its objectives.
- Know, understand, and comply with all Remke Safety Rules and guidelines
- Demonstrate Remke vision and values by successfully collaborating with other teammates throughout the organization
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Production Supervisor
Quality Position Requirements:
- High School diploma preferred
- At least one year similar experience preferred
- Ability to read and write English required
- Ability to read and understand all shipping and receiving documentation including Purchase Orders, Work Orders, Bill of Materials, Sales Orders (Picking Lists) and Special Instructions required
- Ability to operate forklift equipment safely, after proper training and certification.

The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, tools or controls and talk and hear. The employee must be able to drive the company truck.
BODY SENSES: Must have command of all five senses – sight, hearing, touch, perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Specific vision abilities required include close vision depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
STRENGTH: Must have the ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds with regularity.
Work Environment:
This position will be working indoors in a smoke free environment.
Measures of Performance:
The Position Responsibilities will be the basis of measuring the performance of the individual holding the position of General Shop Helper. The individual will be evaluated on their merits of success with regard to each of the points stated in describing the duties of this position.
