NSI Industries is seeking a Plant Manager - Juarez, Mexico. The Plant Manager is responsible for managing various production teams and activities in the production and manufacturing floor; this may include, and it is not limited to production planning, directing and monitoring the production group to meet safety and quality standards, established specifications, schedules and volume/cost/loss targets. The Manager will be liaising with various support groups such as Engineering, Supply Chain Management (i.e., Planning), Procurement, among others; these joint efforts will be focused on developing production schedules, managing change and allocating labor/capital resources. This individual must be able to implement and drive Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) across the production operations and ensure all projects are delivered in a safe manner, at the highest quality standards, while maintaining budgetary guidelines and strict deadlines.

This is a full-time position. Extended hours, including evenings and weekends work, may be required as job duties demand. Required to be on call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week for any severe occurrence that would hamper the normal productive flow of the facility.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide effective team leadership during periods of change and production ramp-up.
  • Oversee production activities in a manufacturing environment, focusing on system-level and strategic solutions to:
    • Optimize efficiency and resource utilization
    • Increase safety levels
    • Minimize costs
    • Maintain high-quality standards
  • Coordinate team activities to improve cost performance by:
    • Optimizing operations
    • Minimizing waste
    • Driving a continuous-improvement culture using Lean Six Sigma, 5S, and Kaizen principles
  • Build and develop a strong production management team with a balanced focus on strategic, tactical, and operational priorities through servant leadership.
  • Provide a clear vision and inspire staff to achieve excellence.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Influence others to adopt best practices and approaches.
  • Collaborate proactively with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Facilities, EHS, and QA teams to incorporate best practices into manufacturing processes.
  • Contribute to new business initiatives and projects, assessing and communicating their impact on manufacturing activities.
  • Meet business objectives and production schedules while ensuring product standards exceed customer expectations.
  • Lead manufacturing strategies and action plans to align facility operations with strategic initiatives.
  • Take accountability for problem-solving and cost-reduction efforts.
  • Communicate obstacles or issues promptly to senior management.
  • Demonstrate success in transitioning manufacturing operations from startup to full production.
  • Bring experience with diverse product offerings, including primary operations, secondary processes, assembly, and packaging.
  • Assign work to the team to ensure timely completion of the production schedule.
  • Develop the team to ensure adequately trained resources are available for current and future business needs.
  • Ensure the production groups have the required tools, supplies, and training to perform their jobs.
  • Provide continual feedback to employees on performance and communicating areas for improvement.
  • Improve process flow and facility layout on the manufacturing floor.
  • Improve safety for all employees.
  • Assists in training all site leaders and staff.
  • Handle disciplinary action in accordance with company policy for direct staff.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years operations experience in production and manufacturing.
  • Prior experience as a Manufacturing/Plant Manager.
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system experience.
  • Min. of 5 years of manufacturing leadership experience with a focus on molding, metal stamping, assembly, machining, injection molding, automatic and manual assembly.
  • P&L responsibility. 
  • Bilingual Spanish / English with a working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking. 
  • Able to work independently with minimal direction. 
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Lean Six Sigma implementation experience.
  • Experience with MS project or Smart Sheet for effective project management.
  • Knowledge of and ability to facilitate lean manufacturing processes activities on 5S, Standard Work Instructions, 5 Why’s, TPM, TFM, Project Management, Kanban, Poke Yoke.
  • Proven experience in a large-scale, high speed/high volume manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Results oriented with ability to plan and deliver project deadlines and goals.
  • Resilient, self-motivated, and able to work well under pressure.
  • Team oriented, able to work with peers effectively.
  • Ability to coach and mentor employees on a one-on-one basis as well as a group.
  • This requires minimal/mid travel needs which can be up to 30%
  • Preferred experience in:
    • Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement and six sigma knowledge.
    • Managing in a union environment.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Demonstrated expertise in servant leadership approach to managing teams.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Managed large teams of over 150+ employees.
    • Must have an acute ability to think strategically, while providing guidance to teams operating at more tactical levels.
Work Environment: Operate in a professional office and manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc. This role is frequently exposed to indoor and outdoor temperature changes and noise, as well as, coolant, oil, high voltage electricity.  Personal protective equipment is required in the manufacturing environment.
