The Staff Accountant’s primary function is to maintain financial records, prepare reports, and ensure accurate accounting practices for an organization.

Job Duties:
  1. Ensure implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed.  Ensure that safe work practices are followed, and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations.
  2. Commitment to the Company’s policies, principles, and procedures and adheres the Company’s procedures including Environmental, Health and Safety (“EH&S”), Equal Employment Opportunity (“EEO”), discipline/corrective action, and security.
  3. Perform reconciliations to ensure accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
  4. Support the finance team with ad hoc projects, including financial analysis and data reporting.
  5. Assist with accounts payable vouchering and maintaining accurate records.
  6. Provide general accounting support, such as journal entries and variance analysis.
  7. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting through diligent reconciliation and recordkeeping.
  8. Enhance the efficiency of the finance team by providing reliable support for diverse tasks and projects.
  9. Strengthen internal controls and compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  10. Contribute to informed decision-making by delivering clear and actionable financial analysis.
  11. Accurate financial reporting is critical for informed management decisions and maintaining stakeholder trust.
  12. By supporting the finance team, this role ensures the department operates efficiently and effectively.
  13. Proper handling of accounts payable and reconciliations safeguards against financial risks and errors.
  14. A dedicated staff accountant enables the company to respond flexibly to evolving business needs and project demands.
  15. Record Recurring Monthly Journal Entries: Accurately prepare and post standard journal entries as part of the monthly financial close process.
  16. Record Weekly Payroll Entries: Ensure proper recording and reconciliation of weekly payroll transactions to maintain accurate financial records.
  17. Perform Account Reconciliations: Prepare and review reconciliations for key accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  18. Assist in Financial Close: Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes by preparing journal entries, reports, and reconciliations.
  19. Assist in Accounts Payable Processing: Aid in vouchering, vendor payment processing, and resolving payment issues as needed.
  20. Perform Ad Hoc Financial Analysis: Conduct analyses and create reports to support decision-making and special projects.
  21. Investigate Account Fluctuations: Analyze and explain variances in financial accounts to ensure accuracy and transparency.
  22. Support Financial Team Projects: Collaborate on various finance-related projects, including system updates, policy changes, and reporting improvements.
  23. Maintain Compliance with Accounting Standards: Ensure all financial activities adhere to company policies and regulatory requirements.
  24. Enhance Process Efficiency: Identify and implement opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve workflow.
  25. Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to work 8am-5pm shift. (This is not a remote position).
  • Familiarity with general ledger systems, financial reporting, and account reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and a demonstrated ability to apply accounting principles effectively.
  • Proficiency in Excel and experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar software).
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience
  • A minimum of 2–4 years of professional accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience in public accounting or in an accounting role within the manufacturing and distribution industry is strongly desired.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through phone, email, and in-person interactions.
  • Visual and auditory ability to handle phone calls and read written communications.
